DVD 7 * Jan. 31, 1998 -- "This Time It's for Real." Danny DeVito is the emcee as the Patrick King Benefit Show kicks off at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, N.J. This footage is of the first song and it's Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Van Zandt, Southside Johnny and Bobby Bandiera all together. It's a shame that this legendary show wasn't filmed in its entirety. * Dec. 12, 1998 -- Amnesty International show from Bercy Stadium in Paris. First track is Bruce with Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman and Youssou N'Dour doing "Get Up, Stand Up." Bruce later does a few acoustic songs after being introduced by Gabriel: "Working on the Highway," "No Surrender" and "Born in the USA." * March 10, 1999 -- The rehearsals have started for the Reunion tour. These are two news clips of Bruce and the E Street Band's rehearsals at Convention Hall in Asbury Park. Clips show Bruce and Patti driving down the Convention Hall ramp in their Range Rover and the fans outside listening to the music. * March 18, 1999 -- The E Street Band has reunited and, before they're ready to conquer the world, they play two rehearsal shows in Asbury Park. This clip of "Prove It All Night" is the opening song from the first rehearsal show. It cuts off toward the end. * March 18, 1999 -- A TV news report from Channel 7 News in New York City of Bruce's rehearsal show at Convention Hall in Asbury Park. Includes some footage of "Prove It All Night" and interviews with fans. There's even a quick shot of Mike "Rocket" Wurtele at the end. * July 15, 1999 -- It's opening night of Bruce's 15-night stand at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J., and here's two songs from that night. He opens the encores with "In Freehold" -- a song he had played only one other time (in Freehold) in the United States. He talks about the history behind the song. He then picks things up a bit with "Stand On It." Bruce jumps on Roy's piano and dances around and then dances around the stage. * July 29, 1999 -- "Give the Girl a Kiss" from the Continental Airlines Arena. Only the second time this song has been performed. Performed for Patti's birthday. Funny ending. * Aug. 4, 1999 -- "No Surrender" opens the 10th show of the Meadowlands stand. It's the first time this song has been played with the full band. Later "Back in Your Arms" is played for the first time. Wow! * Aug. 11, 1999 -- The song fans had been waiting for finally is played at the Meadowlands. Bruce pulls out "New York City Serenade" for the first time in almost 24 years. This is a screen shot, but it captures this special moment of Springsteen history. * Aug. 24, 1999 -- The tour moves to Boston and here's a fun version of "Sherry Darling." It's shot from behind the stage and you can see the fans having a great time. * Aug. 27, 1999 -- The final night in Boston and Bruce opens the show with "Candy's Room." Excellent fan-shot footage from the left side front of the stage. Next is a rocking "The Ties That Bind." * Aug. 31, 1999 -- A fan videotapes Bruce and the band leaving the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington D.C. to go to their show at the MCI Center. There's Max, Clarence, Roy, Danny, Steven and finally Bruce, who stops and signs autographs for lucky fans. * Sept 3, 1999 -- The final night in Washington D.C. has a host of special guests for two of the songs in the encores. "Hungry Heart" and "Red Headed Woman" are performed with Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin. * May 4, 2000 -- The second part of the Reunion tour hits Toronto and Bruce plays a full band "Incident on 57th Street." Very intense. DVD 8 * May 8, 2000 -- This version of "Darlington County" with some lines from "Honky Tonk Women" is one of the reasons this show from the Hartford Civic Center goes down as one of the best shows of the Reunion tour. Bruce and the E Street Band at their best. At the end Bruce says "I'm going to Disneyland!" * June 17, 2000 -- The third show of the 10-night Madison Square Garden stand is a special one. Here's two songs: "Rendezvous" and later Bruce says, "Here's something we have never played before in our illustrious careers and I'm not sure we can play it now." And they play "The E Street Shuffle." It was the first time the album version of this song had been played with this version of the E Street Band. "Are we ready to shuffle?" * Dec. 17, 2000 -- A VH1 report of Bruce's Christmas show from Asbury Park's Convention Hall. There's a clip of Bruce singing "Blue Christmas" and a quick interview with Clarence and some fans. * May 27, 2001 -- Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes are playing the 25th anniversary party of the Stone Pony and Bruce shows up to jam with them on the outdoor stage. They play "I've Been Working Too Hard" and "Having a Party." Southside brings my friend Carol up on stage to hold the microphone out to the crowd. This is one of those great bar performances. * Aug. 1, 2001 -- Here are some clips of Bruce at Yankee Stadium watching the Yankees play the Texas Rangers. He's sitting next to cyclist Lance Armstrong and the TV cameras catch several shots of him watching the game. * Aug. 18, 2001 -- A legendary day in Asbury Park. Bruce is a surprise guest at the Clearwater Festival held in the park across the street from Convention Hall. He opens the show with "Does This Bus Stop" and there's the start of "Bobby Jean" before it cuts. A New Jersey TV station is there to cover the event and gets a short interview with Bruce. It also includes footage of him signing autographs and sitting back enjoying the festivities. * Aug. 18, 2001 -- Another song from Clearwater shot by a different source. This is "Blinded by the Light." Bruce (wearing that Dolphins cap) invites other musicians at the festival up on stage with him. My friend Joellen gets to sing a verse of the song. A lot of fun. * May 18, 2002 -- Bruce returns to his hometown of Freehold for the Vinyard Park dedication. Tex Vinyard was the manager of Bruce's first band, the Castiles, and the town has opened a park where Tex's house use to stand. This great clip shows Bruce walking down the street with his high school buddy and Castiles bandmate George Theiss and the unveiling of the sign. Bruce gives a moving speech about Tex and Marion Vinyard, and he ends up cutting the cake they have as part of the refreshments. * July 24, 2002 -- It's time for the media blitz for "The Rising." Matt Lauer of NBC's "Today" show tours Asbury Park with Bruce in preparation for the live broadcast the following week. They show Bruce and Matt outside the Stone Pony and on the boardwalk, and Bruce talks about Asbury Park. The final stop is at Sonny's Southern Cuisine on Cookman Avenue. Bruce plays "My City of Ruins" with the Alliance singers. * July 30, 2002 -- Katie Couric of "Today" interviews Bruce and the E Street Band at Asbury Park's Convention Hall before they play. All the band members except Garry Tallent get a chance to talk to Katie. At one point, Katie asks Patti a question and Bruce starts answering it. Couric says: "Let her talk, Bruce!" Not one of Bruce's better interviews. Interesting to see that it was already 82 degrees at 8:35 a.m. What a hot day it was in Asbury Park. The band then takes the stage to play "The Rising" for the morning crowd. * Oct. 4, 2002 -- Bruce gives a speech and performs an acoustic "Thunder Road" at the Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge dedication in Boston. Activist Lenny Zakim was a friend of Springsteen's. * Oct. 5, 2002 -- A real funny clip. Bruce and the E Street Band are rehearsing for their performance later that evening on "Saturday Night Live." They start playing "Lonesome Day" and a couple minutes into the song Bruce and Steven realize that Patti is missing. She shows up and grabs a guitar halfway into the song. After the song is over, Patti isn't too happy and Bruce says, "There are too many members in the E Street Band now." He then says to Patti: "I was as surprised as you were, Darling. That's what practices are for. That's why they call it a run-through." And he then says: "I want to do this song again. I don't care how much it costs!" * Nov. 12, 2002 -- Jason Berkley of Los Angeles is in the pit of Bruce's show in Cincinnati and holds up a sign during the encores that reads, "I came 2,000 miles to hear 'I'm a Rocker.'" "Bruce isn't sure at first, but after some urging from the crowd he plays a great version. * Nov. 23, 2002 -- A clip from a great show in Miami. Bruce brings up Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and Bono to play "Because the Night." What an incredible performance! Bono brings out the best in Bruce and Bono starts ad-libbing some lines at the end. A classic. * March 11, 2003 -- We've come full circle, as here's a clip of Bruce and the band playing "Blinded by the Light" from Rochester, N.Y. Bruce tells a funny story how this is "my only No. 1 song I ever had, but I didn't have it -- Manfred Mann had it. And they changed some of the lyrics." * Nov. 22, 2002 -- A report from a Tampa, Fla. TV station of fans who visit the Springsteen sites in Freehold and Asbury Park. There's clips of a tour going through Asbury Park in July 2002.
